check out this 1920's Tudor style house that wished to add and change the “heaviness and darkness” of the house and their solution was this kitchen observatory - and if you ask me - IT WORKS! .. take a look:
The welcoming entrance was achieved by adding a wrought-iron front rail-and-pier screen, a lowered front entry court with a limestone fountain and a shelter at the front door made from heavy-timbered oak and reclaimed roofing slates.
above are the outter views of the backyard where the conservatory was added
above is the inside ..
this normally isn't 'my cup of tea' but i'm in lloovvveee with this design ..
top to bottom - i wanna move in!!!

Pretty successful change! Our new home is 100 years old but it's been completely renovated and modernised inside, too, but still has the high ceilings and all that stuff :-)
ReplyDeleteWow! Wonder if they have solar shades? Otherwise I would think this place would heat up like a green house.
ReplyDeleteAdore that hood!
Gorgeous photos..I just found your blog...Im your newest follower..cant wait to see more:)

Holy hell! I can't believe someone gets to live there. Can you imagine a thunder storm in there? I would use it as my studio, so much light, I could paint away the day, and hear the birds...ahh
ReplyDeleteI've heard HOUSE is amazing, so I started to watch it on Monday and then I stopped because I got the vibe i needed to start at season 1... would you agree?

ReplyDeleteWow, I don't even have a house let alone a conservatory. But I'm in love and totes jealous of this house and its owners. Drool!

ReplyDeletewow that is pretty incredible.....why can't that be mine? :(
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!! The closest I'll come to a conservatory is cutting a whole in the window of the closet that's built next to the outer wall. hahahaha

Wow, I love this idea, totally works for me.
ReplyDeleteThe only Conservatory I've seen was in a friend's flat in London. She had two, one she used for a dinning room, and a smaller one she used as a breakfast nook off of her kitchen.
Great pics, thanks for sharing.
Cheers!

It was Scarlet in the conservatory with the rope. Besides the game clue i have never seen or been in a real conservatory but I image I would have plants and an area for reading.
ReplyDeleteIt would be so cool to have a conservatory! I would use it as a star gazing spot!
ReplyDeleteLuvs!
