I just stumbled across your blog for the first time and thought I would say hello! I looked through a few of your posts and love your style.
ReplyDeleteI'm a blogger as well, about the world of art, but my history is in interior design and fashion. I love to hear what people are saying! Hope we get to see more of each other in the future.

that quote is perfect!
ReplyDeleteThose are some wise words. I should be shopping with that quote in my pocket!
ReplyDeleteso true! I totally try to do this... could I wear it to work with a cardigan and then out without it?!? Yes? Then it's mine!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Now that I have a baby and money isn't flowing as freely as it was before :), I definitely live by MK's words. I try and get pieces that work for every situation!
ReplyDeletevery well put and good for use in those dressing rooms! ha!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteyou're *crazy*
ReplyDelete;-)
I so agree with Michael Kors'quote because that's exactly what i think to myself right before I'm getting ready to do my purchases.
ReplyDeletexoxo,

I need to ask these questions more often. That would make my wardrobe a lot more cohesive.
ReplyDeleteI do try to shop by that moto and actually the past couple of times I'm really proud of myself because I stuck to it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment! I'm now your newest follower -- I'd love it if you wanted to follow me too :)
Not at all!!! I was actually thinking yesterday that I don't want to shop practical anymore! I will shop what I crave and I will always find a reason to wear it!!!!:::)
ReplyDeleteAfter I finally got use for my lavender Marc Jacobs stilettos that I have had in my closet for ages....
So true! I think this is why so many people have wardrobes of black or neutrals, because everything can work together and shopping becomes a no-brainer.
ReplyDeleteXo,
Sara Kate
that is for certain! I just bought a pair of pants from his line and all of these things crossed my mind... inevitably I snatched them up quickly! (the last one in my size, too) wise, wise man...
ReplyDeletehope you're having a great week, lovely lady, xoxo
So if I wasn't already an MK fan before, I'm even more so now! I love this guys aesthetic and these are true words of wardrobe wisdom. I need to heed them more :)
ReplyDeleteSo funny that you would post this quote today, I went shopping last night. For the first time in ages I bought mainly dresses. I'm in the mood to dress, I don't know why. I don't watch Mad Men so I can't blame it on them;) I do think about how long I will be able to wear something before I buy it though.
ReplyDelete...except for that electric green velvet jacket...I only wear it once or twice a year, but I just love that thing...
Cheers!
J.
i love michael kors. he is so fun to watch on project runway. :P
ReplyDeleteI've always heard you have to be able to wear the item 3 different ways in order to justify buying it. I try to follow the code because I have a spending problem. It helps, it really does!
ReplyDeleteGreat clothes buying philosophy, one that I have yet to implement...but shall.
ReplyDeleteI am trying so hard to adopt this philosophy. But then, I see that cute skirt/dress/pants/shirt that I can't live without and will not go with anything else :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely words to live by. :-) After cleaning out my closet I'm trying only to buy things that I absolutely need or can guarantee I'll wear a lot!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I do live somewhat near NYC, a little over an hour away, in Jersey but so far west it may as well be PA! ;-)
What great words to live by...it's like the turn the hanger trick when you switch seasons and if you haven't worn it in that season because the hanger is still backwards, DONATE IT!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by...see ya soon!
XX!
AMEN LADY!! (and MK) AMEN!!
ReplyDeleteI just got saw your comment and BUSTED UP laughing. My hair's a RAT'S NEST!
aaaaaahahahahahah!!
xoxo,
carrie
I'm from Los Angeles and moved to Chicago 3 months ago. NYC is next on my list. I have to move there!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Funny, when I first saw the post title I thought it was by Mary Kate! Much prefer Michael! XX!
ReplyDeleteI def don't practice what MK preaches but I could stand to learn a few things from it! It makes so much sense...must repeat that when I go to make my next purchase!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!
xo
I do try to live by this... still a work in progress, but I try!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's why he's THE Michael Kors. J'adore that man!
ReplyDeleteI don't even think about what I'm going to wear it with. That's how sad my wardrobe is!

ReplyDeleteSo True...I had to say that to a pair of Michael Kors shoes one day...oops MK!
ReplyDeleteOR:
"If ya dont like something when you see it at the store, you wont like it when you get home...the store is where you like it best...so when youre lookin at it in the store, say to yourself,"Is this Me?"....
You know who said that?
Sandra Bullock...in "The Blind Side"
Which BTW, one of the best movies EVER!!!!!
Great one Erika...you find the Best, most random but FABULOUS stuff!!!
xoxolove
**PS** 33/33 LOL!
i love it... actually i do think of this because i need my clothes to be multipurpose
ReplyDeletei don't think that quote could be more perfect!!! i totally believe in it!!!
ReplyDeleteI've really been shopping with this mentality lately! I always ask myself where could I see myself wearing this in the near future and how. Great quote!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I was following those smart words of MK:(
ReplyDeleteLoving this advice! Why don't we always do this?!!!
ReplyDeleteLuvs!
One of the rules I used when cleaning out my closet was that I had to be able to wear it 3 different ways. But the great Kors makes an even better point!!!
ReplyDeleteLeaving the House in THIS?!?!
