i just wanna say i am back on the Angelina Jolie train - i dig this chick! - you know why? - she's BRCA positive and she took maters in her own hands and had the double mastectomy - BRAVO *applause* - it takes a lot of courage and strength to go through what she did - and i'm proud a 'celebrity' is coming forth with her story so she can bring light to this genetic mutation and save women's lives! - as you know this is near and dear to me as i'm BRCA positive as well, and like Angelina i plan on getting the preventative double mastectomy and ovaries removed once i have children - to learn more check out my organization i belong to Bright Pink - ladies if your insurance won't pay for it, it will be the best $3000 you will ever spend, especially if you have children!
you can read about Angelina's journey here
Wow. I had no idea about her doing that! How awesome of a role model is that. And good for you- taking your health so seriously and into your own hands.
ReplyDeleteBravo Angelina for sharing your story! Women should be aware of the need for testing/options and it is great for a woman to speak about this openly!

She is so brave, so smart, such a wonderful role model
ReplyDeletehm... idk... i didnt want to be the only one who doesn't agree with such decision, but I will be. She did not have cancer and she removed her breasts? What? She is one of the richest celebrities in the world who can definitely afford regular cancer screenings and mammograms... I don't know. I just don't understand why do something like that with out being sick. I do not think this should be taken as something to look up to. A lot of people suffer from cancer but you don't see them go and remover their organs. Please tell me if I'm wrong. But I really do not agree with such decision. I understand she was told she has 87% chance of getting cancer, but she hasn't gotten it!!! sorry if I offended anyone.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you. I didn't think I could like her, but now I love her. In doing this, so many women will get tested for the gene.
