Weight

ya know when you go to the doctors - and every single time they make you stand on that scale - you know the scale where you don't know if it's 100% accurate (i wanna see the tech there balancing that bad boy), maybe a few pounds are off here or there - the one you wanna hurry up and strip down naked b/c clothes weigh SOMETHING right?! - i know when i venture on top of that pad, i start praying to the universe 'please be kind' - then you see THE number - i *gasp* each time - no matter what - sometimes a good gasp, sometimes a bad one - but every single time afterwards the rest of the day and days after i think about THAT number! - especially if they round up - drives me bananas - like WHO in the world rounds UP on weight with women, hello - that's a no-no!

so tell me - WHAT do you think of this chart above?
Do you cringe each time getting on the scale?
Are you a number person or body person? (weight lbs or just go on how u look in mirror)
or Do you care NOTHING at all about this?!

PS - PARIS FRANCE HELP!
my friend is looking to take a trip to Paris - she wanted to know "where to stay" and recommendations - anyone who has been lately or lives there that can help?!?!

  2. This post is perfect timing for me. I went to the doc yesterday and cringed. I swear -- they never say the same thing as the home scale does.
    It's always 3, 4 or 5 pounds off.
The chart above makes me need to lose weight to be at the bottom level of 5'4"..That's my goal :)

  3. Hahah - you make me laugh :) I try not to weigh myself. I run a lot though, so that always makes me feel healthy.

  4. Well, according to the char you posted my weight is exactly where it should be, so that's good. I tend to not worry about the numbers and care more about what I see in the mirror - but mostly I try really hard to just eat well, exercise and not worry about it!

  7. Not a fan of scales nor do I own one! Muscle weighs more than fat so I just gauge my weight on my clothes and how they fit, besides that chart has a 40 lb delta for my height and if I was on the higher end I'd never eat again. xo

  8. stay by notre dam- trust me its old paris and magical.

I hate the scale too! :(

  9. When I was younger I cared about that number, which is crazy because I was usually underweight. Now, absolutely don't care at all. The 40's are fantastic :)

  10. um yes...I always take off my shoes and I hate the number I see. But I not always that upset with my appearance so I must remember that if my clothes are fitting, weight is just a number!

  11. Well I guess I like the chart it says I am a healthy weight. BUT really 120-160 for my height? Quite a bit of difference don't ya think? I think they have been raising the weight over the years cuz I know that I was a healthy weight in my 20's at 110 pounds and sizes are bigger than they use to be...

  12. Oh I care, I care plenty! At 5'5", I'm at the high end of the scale and it's too much for my frame. I have two wardrobes, 12's and 14's, have given up on ever seeing size 10 again. We eat healthy, whole grains, lean meats, veges and fruits but losing weight has become the hardest thing to do after 50. I am a rock that needs dynamite to knock off lbs.!

  13. I am obsessed with the scale. Completely. I seriously weight myself every morning, and sometimes during the day if I'm feeling skinny and brave. But yeah. I also measure my waist to make sure I'm losing fat and not muscle.

  14. After I started working out I didn't mind getting on the scale esp. when i saw that I had finally lost my college weight. But now that i haven't been regualarly excersicing i'm scared to get back on the scale.

  15. this is an interesting chart...i think everyone gets upset about their weight at one point or another. i try to be healthy and not stress (TOO much!).

  16. I thought I was goign to look at this and cry but I feel a little better about my weight situation because of this. Although I still want to lose about 5-10 lbs to get back to what I was at last summer. Damn the first year of marriage making us gain weight!

  17. I care for health reasons. I stopped caring about the numbers on the scale a long time ago. Yes, they are important because I DO want to look good. So I exercise, because it makes me happy to be active, and I eat right. But I don't stress too much over the numbers. If I gain weight I say "oh well" and I smile and go out for a run or two (or three, it depends on whether I stopped at the French bakery for a rich snack or not that week :-)

  18. How strange I had been thinking of blogging about weight!

I am 5ft 8 and weight 11 stone 3. A little heavier than i would like but still within the healthy remit. I know women get hung up on the numbers but for me it's all about how I feel and how my clothes feel.

At the moment I know I want to loose a little in preparation for my holidays.

  22. I don't agree with this chart because according to it I am not at a healthy weight (I'm underweight) but I don't think that I am, I think I look healthy. I hate getting on scales because I'm always 5 lbs. heavier than what I am at home!

  23. I stopped weighting myself years ago and my weight has become much more stable!

  24. I would have to say I'm half weight person and half how I look in the mirror.

I once was in a Stress Class at my university and the professor said, "Think about how many times you talk to yourself without knowing. Now, think how many of those times is it something negative." Since that statement, when I find myself thinking something negative about myself or my day I try and change it with at least 10 good things. It has boosted my body image 100%.

  25. I guess I'm more of a "how you look in the mirror" kind of person, but most of the time I just try not to think about weight at all!

  28. THANKS everyone for all ur comments - i loved reading how people think about their weight and so forth - for me i'm SUPER self-concious over numbers unfortunatly

  29. Oh, I hate that scale. Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised, and other times my mouth drops open and I say, "Oh, that can't be right!" ha ha

We went to Paris in 2006 and stayed at the Marriott on the Champs Elysees. Hubby travels for work so we save our points and stayed for free. You know what you are getting w/ Marriott, the hotel was clean, beds were comfy, service was good, location couldn't be beat. Sephora was next door! Laduree was across the street! xo

  30. Currently not paying attention, I'm 8+ months pregnant, so as long as the Dr. says I'm "on track" I'm good. Now after I have him, well that's another story...I'm sure I'll be putting his little self in the stroller and running any extra lbs. off! *Amy

  31. This chart is actually off. The real way to measure someone's ideal body weight, which is a healthy weight for that person, is This: for women, you start at five feet.. that is 100 lbs, plus or minus ten percent. So 90 to 110 lbs. For every inch over you add 5 lbs. So at 5'5" it would be 113 to 138 (using the plus or minus ten percent to get a range). I'm sorry, but I think this is actually too heavy. 137 lbs on a girl who is only five feet tall, I mean, you would need to look at other aspects like possible risk factors, but I think that would be a little too heavy.
