Strange or What?!

a visual and text about myself and marriage ... i few friends got engaged this weekend and well got my wheels turnings ...

it's probably quite strange that i post about "weddings" and/or "engagements" - when in my own life, it's not something i want for myself  (necessarily) - SURE i dabble in the idea here and there - but i sorta' just think my soul is meant to be free ~

 i seem to always land in long term joyous relationships ~ but i just never was the girl who "dreamed" about getting married, or "had" to be married by a certain age, or "always thought i'd have 3 kids" ~

i dabble in the thought of it all, because what girl wouldn't want the huge rock, grand dress, spectacular venue, and host the party of the century?! ~

just don't know if saying "I do" is something i can commit to .. I guess i'm a lil 'Carrie Bradshaw' like, but maybe i will marry Mr. Big  ~

i do have big shoes to fill .. watching my parents evolution of marriage .. i just don't know if my navigational skills are upto par ~

i let fate take it's course and drag me around, kinda' my rule of thumb - it's been splendid so far - ( ok i lied, i've had a few bumps in the road, but i've had new pavement down for awhile now *phew* )  .. so i'm going with what works ... for now ~

(( ok enough bout myself .. back to FUN stuff tomorrow ! ! !  )))

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
** so there you go universe  -  you got it  -  just another little piece of me out there  -  now do what you want with it  -  but please  -  be gentle  **
  3. As I read your post, I understood every single word you were saying as I once felt the SAME exact way. I was a very happy and successful single girl with the same thoughts, however I will venture to say it is because you haven't met the right person. I was in healthy relationships with wonderful people and did not feel marriage was right for me/us...most relationships aren't meant to last a lifetime (significant others, friends, etc.) However, I will say if you meet the right person you will know and you are more FREE in life if you are married to the right person! You'll love endlessly, openly and deeply...it feels really good! Nice, honest post!
  4. Very nice post- the words and images match perfectly together. Many of my friends are getting engaged- by the end of the summer it'll prob be 5 of them... it's so weird because my friends are now split between the engaged and the no-where-close-to-being-engaged (which includes me). I am so happy for them, yet it's such a weird time in our lives...this split.
    Anyhoo- happy Monday!
  5. This post was written beautifully! I completely understand what you mean. The glam & the allure of it all looks wonderful but I'm just going to let life take it's course!! I hope we all find our Mr. Big. =)
  6. Hey sweet Erika,
    Beautiful post complete with gorgeous pictures! You have every right to feel the way you do, and I too was once like you. I knew one day I wanted to settle down but was really in no hurry. Just then when I least expected it, I met my now hubby, and honestly even though I resisted a bit at first, I fell head over heels for him. I love your perspective, just remember to keep your eyes and heart open, you never know who is out there waiting for you!! xoxoxo Have a happy week!
  9. THANKS lovies for the comments!!! ... i'm ALLLLL about other people getting married and having kids ... it's just ME ... haha ... i'm TOO much of a Gemini, i change my mind ALLLL the time ... and i get "tired" of things and need change ... "forever ever after" is something i'm not too sure i could commit too ... but i wouldn't count it out, that's for sure! *teehee* ...
  10. I know what you mean, I am not sure if marriage is for everyone. I think most of us like the idea of getting married, (dress, rock, party, etc) but when it comes down to it, it is a BIG commitment. You will know if it's right for you when the time is right.
  15. Sweetie...B. and I live together for a really long time...Most people assume that we are married but we are not..we don’t really feel the need yet...or maybe never...We like to see what happens....I love wedding dresses, wedding and everything about it...but everything in the right time on your own terms...So I think you are doing great....As long as you are happy and fulfilled...that is what matters!
    Kisses and have a great Monday:)
  16. Love this beautiful post! I adore all those rings! *sigh* I would love one of those rings. I can understand how you feel. I actually used to be so ready for marriage, but after a lot of stuff happening, it made me resist it a lot more. It does sound scary. I think when the time is right, we all just know.
    Have a wonderful Monday!
  18. I think it's fantastic that you're not set on finding the THE ONE and staying together till death do you part. We as individuals should do what's best for us and you are walking to the beat of your own drum---love that. And hey, you never know, MR. Big may be just around the corner.
  26. This is such a wonderful post sweetie. So honest. I really respect that about you. You just live your life and don't worry about what other people think. Your happiness is all that matters. Some people are just meant to be free or free from traditionalism :)
    Hope your week is off to a great start! xoxo
  30. Amazing post! I loved the the comment above mine by Crystal: " a marriage and a wedding are two different things", very true.
  32. Erika...You may be young...but you are very wise! Too many get sidelined by all the trappings and the glitz, of course a marriage is more than parties and jewels....when you find the right one, its just the icing on the cake. It seems your parents have put you on the right track to happiness, and clearly that is where your life will take you...a path to your own joy, on your terms!
  33. Love this and am absolutely on track with your thinking. Keep being true to your heart which is beautiful.
