AMEN MK!

"When you try on something, you have to ask yourself, 'How many ways could I wear this? Could I wear it to work? To dinner or drinks? Will it span the seasons?' If you have to think too hard about those questions, then skip it."—MICHAEL KORS

Are these words to live by or what?!

  2. I just stumbled across your blog for the first time and thought I would say hello! I looked through a few of your posts and love your style.

I'm a blogger as well, about the world of art, but my history is in interior design and fashion. I love to hear what people are saying! Hope we get to see more of each other in the future.

  11. Not at all!!! I was actually thinking yesterday that I don't want to shop practical anymore! I will shop what I crave and I will always find a reason to wear it!!!!:::)
After I finally got use for my lavender Marc Jacobs stilettos that I have had in my closet for ages....

  12. So true! I think this is why so many people have wardrobes of black or neutrals, because everything can work together and shopping becomes a no-brainer.

  13. that is for certain! I just bought a pair of pants from his line and all of these things crossed my mind... inevitably I snatched them up quickly! (the last one in my size, too) wise, wise man...

  14. So if I wasn't already an MK fan before, I'm even more so now! I love this guys aesthetic and these are true words of wardrobe wisdom. I need to heed them more :)

  15. So funny that you would post this quote today, I went shopping last night. For the first time in ages I bought mainly dresses. I'm in the mood to dress, I don't know why. I don't watch Mad Men so I can't blame it on them;) I do think about how long I will be able to wear something before I buy it though.

...except for that electric green velvet jacket...I only wear it once or twice a year, but I just love that thing...

    Cheers!
    J.

  17. I've always heard you have to be able to wear the item 3 different ways in order to justify buying it. I try to follow the code because I have a spending problem. It helps, it really does!

  18. Great clothes buying philosophy, one that I have yet to implement...but shall.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I am trying so hard to adopt this philosophy. But then, I see that cute skirt/dress/pants/shirt that I can't live without and will not go with anything else :)

  20. Definitely words to live by. :-) After cleaning out my closet I'm trying only to buy things that I absolutely need or can guarantee I'll wear a lot!

P.S. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I do live somewhat near NYC, a little over an hour away, in Jersey but so far west it may as well be PA! ;-)

  21. What great words to live by...it's like the turn the hanger trick when you switch seasons and if you haven't worn it in that season because the hanger is still backwards, DONATE IT!

Thanks for stopping by...see ya soon!

  30. So True...I had to say that to a pair of Michael Kors shoes one day...oops MK!

    OR:
"If ya dont like something when you see it at the store, you wont like it when you get home...the store is where you like it best...so when youre lookin at it in the store, say to yourself,"Is this Me?"....

    You know who said that?
    Sandra Bullock...in "The Blind Side"

Which BTW, one of the best movies EVER!!!!!

Great one Erika...you find the Best, most random but FABULOUS stuff!!!

  35. Loving this advice! Why don't we always do this?!!!

    Luvs!

    ReplyDelete
  36. One of the rules I used when cleaning out my closet was that I had to be able to wear it 3 different ways. But the great Kors makes an even better point!!!
